CASBA 2014 Straw Building Conference

The California Straw Building Association’s (CASBA) annual spring Straw Building Conference will take place on April 25 – 27 in Cambria, California. The kickoff event will take place Friday night and the weekend will feature Robert LaPorte and Paula Baker-LaPorte as keynote speakers, member presentations, and a tour of a straw bale home. Session topics include: Working with Natural Plasters Including Clay, Lime and Gypsum; the Building Science of Staw Wall Assemblies; Diagnosing Plaster Failures; Structural Design Options with Straw Bale Walls; Pros and Cons of Mechanized Plaster Applications; and Design for Bale Stacking Efficiency and Thermal Performance. All attendees are invited to bring either five or twenty images to share with group by presenting either five slides in five minutes, or twenty slides at twenty seconds each.
